Pedro Vlogs and as per what YouTube says he started his channel on July 28th of 2014. He was quite regular on his uploads but he didn’t take his channel seriously, he only started the channel for two reasons. One, he was taking pictures, putting them together on a video to share with his family and friends as it was easier than sending all the pictures one by one. And secondly he wanted to overcome that shyness of talking to audiences and cameras and that is why in the beginning and ending of every video for the first two years of his channel you see him talking but very very shy about it.
Nowadays Pedro continues to travel he world and make Vlogs about it. He is more confident when he speaks and he enjoys talking to the camera and his viewers. Pedro mainly Vlogs about everything he does when he travels abroad, before he was showing landscapes only but now he shows literally everything he does. Pedro will tell you where is the best places to go, how to get there and what can you expect.
First he started his channel with the name “CitiesOfTheWorld”, because his objective was to go to every city in the world, but just recently as he throws in a bit of his interesting life into his YouTube channel he decided to change the name to “PedroTravells”, and YES he uses two “L’s” on the word “travels”. He changed the name because he is not focused anymore on showing the city he is in, but HIM in the city.
What plans do you have in the future for your blog?
I know that being consistent is one of the keys to succeed on Vlogging and YouTube in general so a couple of months ago I decided that I would upload a video every Thursday. As I am always traveling sometimes I have to upload it one day after or one before but around Thursday the Vlog is there. I am now working on a new thing for the channel which instead of me travelling to other countries, it will be me showing the city where I live and the cities around here. The objective is to upload twice a week one video somewhere in the world, and another here in Dubai or around here about my daily life. I started recording already and one of the episodes I ended up inside a hunted palace without knowing it…
Places I still want to go?
That’s an easy one! I want to go to places that I never been, experience new things and cultures. I love that!
If you are reading this and you have a blog or YouTube channel also and love travelling hit me up and I might have a flight to your city.
Does your blog cover anything else other than travel? If so what?
As the name says its “PedroTravells”, it is about me, Pedro, and about travelling. You will find me talking about myself and the cities that I am in.
Do you have any travel tips or advice for our readers that might want to start a travel blog?
Travel as much as you can, that widens up your view of the world and your mentality, gives you a better perspective of things when you give an opinion to someone.
And for those who want to start a blog or a YouTube channel let me tell you something, you will hear people laughing at you when you first say that you are going to start something. People will tell you after 6 month that you started and you only have less than 100 subscribers/followers that it was a waste of time. But don’t listen to those people! Do it because you love it! Do it because it makes you happy sharing whatever you do with other people, and that applies to all things you do in your life, people who can’t do something themselves will tell you that you can’t.
Believe in yourself and as one person that I look forward to meet one day (Casey Neistat) said: “JUST KEEP UPLOADING!”
What are some of the highs and lows of travel blogging?
When you travel blog even though you do it because you love doing it, there is always that beginning when you are learning and you don’t have many people to read your posts or watch your videos, you feel that it could be a waste of time, and that I think it goes on every bloggers mind I guess.
Being afraid not to be acknowledged by other people or not to fit into this “business”. I think this would be a low in travel blogging. The first thing to counter this low is to remember that EVEN if I don’t fit this travel blogging thing and I suck at this at least I will have something to remember later on. In a couple of years I can go back a read about that trip and feel what I was feeling that day.
Another thing is that when you look back and start reading your posts or watching you’re older videos of yours, you will see the changes you made, the improvement along the time. That will make you feel good, that you have accomplished something.
What type of traveler are you?
I usually say that I’m a full-time traveler, I work as a flight attendant for one of the best airlines in the world, Emirates, so I live in Dubai and from here I travel to almost every place in the world and I love it.
Apart of all the safety and service duties I need to know and perform I usually say that I get paid to travel.
What sites or other resources do you use to decide where and when you will go to a certain place or destination?
I have been travelling non stop for about 3 years and a half now, I have seen a lot of places but still, every month I manage to go to at least one place new city. The company gives us a roster with the flight that we are going to have for the next month and if I have one that I have been too many time I can swap it with other flight attendant in order for me to go to a new place.
Before I go to a certain place or sometimes as soon as I arrive I go on Google and type: “What to do in …” or if I have ben there already I type: “Unusual things to do in …” And that shows me lots and lots of things to do and places to go.
Apart from “work” when I have vacation, this sounds a bit cliché because it looks like my life is a vacation, but when I get a week or two I usually go back home to Portugal to see family and friends, but I have been planning to go backpacking and hiking to a couple of places this next year.
Deciding where to go its easy for me because I want to go everywhere so If I have a couple of places in mind I just choose any, because I know that sooner or later I will go to the others.
Do you have any favourite travel books you have read or use?
I know that reading is good, and I advise everybody to do it. But I have a busy life and always have things to do so I don’t much time for reading.
What’s been some of your favorite destinations & why?
Home is usually the best answer for this, but in my case I really have to say South of Portugal, the Algarve, it was where I grew up, and I’m very proud to have born in such a paradise.
Apart from that I love the French Polonaise or Cote d’Azur as some people call it, It is beautiful and I had a great time there. Adding 3 more destinations, would be New York, Rome and Phuket
What equipment do you use to blog or for your blog?
Before answering this question, I have to say that equipment is not everything. The most important thing is the story you are telling, you can have the best equipment ever but if your story isn’t good you’ll not succeed. Story is everything.
Software: I use Adobe software like Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom and Audition.
Camera: I used to have a Canon 5D Mark III but recently changed for a Sony Alpha 7s II, that is my main camera, attached to that I use a Zhiyun Crane v2 gimbal stabilizer and on top as a microphone I use a VideoMic Pro. If I go underwater I have a GoPro Hero 4.
Computer: I have an Macbook Pro from 2013 it still works very well but to edit 4k footage it was taking me long time so I built my own computer from scratch, BTW I like to build things.
Do you have any photography or making travel videos tips?
There are lots and lots of videos and websites on the web explaining how to do everything you can imagine, maybe one day I will show my way of editing but there is many professionals online that will explain you better than me.
The only thing I can say that most of the people will not tell you is, record as much as you can, take as many notes as you can. There is nothing worse that getting home after a trip and not having enough footage to work with, believe me it happened to me and it does not feel good.
What are the TOP VLOGS post on your page?
First it was my first video about the Algarve it is now at around 142 thousand views
Second is my first video in the Aquaventure waterpark, it is located in The Palm, Atlantis, Dubai.
Third is a video that I did when I was in Adelaide in Australia, a really nice city and I have no clue how this got to this amount of views.
Do you have any tips or suggestions one how bloggers can earn an income from blogging?
Google Adsense is your answer for you to start with. But once you get more followers you will start receiving things to review from specific companies or brands, things to talk about and advertise depending on the type of blog you have and what you talk about.
Top 5 Bucket-list Destinations?

Top 5 travel experiences you can’t wait to try out or do?
Release a candle in Yi Peng festival in Thailand, Swim in the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, float on an air balloon in Cappadocia in Turkey, walk on water in Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia and swim in Devil’s Pool in Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Do you have a money-saving travel tips?
I never thought much about the money as long as I am not spending it on superficial things. But on travelling I think the cheapest way is backpacking. It scares me staying in the same hotel for a week knowing that I could be spending that money on other things. I the type of guy that in the end of the day as long as I lay flat to sleep I don’t care if its 5 star hotel or a tent in the middle of a forest.
Before you travel, plan very well what you are going to do, how to get there and most important if something happens how to find other ways to get where you want to go because if something goes the wrong way and you were not prepared for it that’s where you’re going to spend most of your money. Also always have some backup money so you can help yourself in an emergency.
Do you have ay funny or strange travel experiences to share? please state what happened.
Funny or strange I might have but I just don’t remember, but on one of my last trips I got a flight to London Heathrow and I met a girl called Natalia that surprised me a lot, and me getting surprise is something that happens very rarely. I was expecting to stay in London for one day and maybe going sightseeing for a bit and just catch up on sleep, but then I thought maybe I can go to see the Stonehenge.
That was when I met Natalia that wanted to go there and more than that she wanted to go to a city called Bath outside of London. We rented a car went to the Stonehenge, and it was nice. But it was when we were going to Bath that I was amazed with the landscape on the way there and how beautiful the city of Bath was.
I was thinking about sleeping and this girl came and changed my plans for better, which usually I’m the one doing that to other people, so I was very surprised and happy.
Was there a place you visited that did not live up to your expectations & why.
I am not the kind of person that creates great expectation about a place where I travel. I usually go with a couple of images on my head but apart from that I have a big blank space about the city that I go. When I arrive there I start absorbing information and filling up that blank space. What I see is what I know.

What’s in your travel bag? Name 5 travel essentials always in your bag?
Camera, extra batteries, plug adapter, power bank and water bottle.
But it really depends on the kind of trip I am doing, but usually that’s the main thing.
What travel apps do you use and why?
Strange but I only use one app, which is Google Maps. I most of the time use the offline maps function of it because I never have internet when I am out of the hotels for sightseeing. So before leaving the hotel I download the maps and place a yellow star on the places that I want to go, and that’s how I get everywhere. Very simple, but remember the maps drain your battery a lot so make sure you have with you a good power bank.
What are three things travelling has thought you?
Never generalize and never judge people from where they come from. Traveling has thought me that no matter how many people I listen talking about a certain place and how many pictures or videos I see about a specific place it is never the same as being there and experiencing it for yourself. Travelling made me think that no matter how much I travel I always want more!
Have you encountered any travel mishaps or scary moments if so what happened?
I always try to avoid dangerous places or areas and that is why at least for now you will not see me in certain cities. I always plan ahead my timings for sightseeing and tours but sometimes things happen and I always try to remain calm in order to solve the problem. It happen to me a couple of times almost loosing a flight due to a train once was not working and I had to find another way back to the hotel which took me longer than expected, sometimes I just get lost in time and when I thing about getting back to the hotel is already too late and then I have myself running back to the hotel… Things like this are the scary moments that I have which are nothing compared to other people’s scary things.
Do you have any recommendations for cities and beach places that you have visited and loved? What was good about these places?
I recommend everybody to do one thing:
First: Think about your dream place/city to go, like, think about that place that if you go there you would be happier that anywhere else in the world.
Second: Choose carefully someone to go with you, it really makes a difference the people you travel with.
Third: Set a goal with that person that next year both of you will go to that dream place.
Fourth: Work your ass off in order to be able to get there.
Fifth: Once you get there, ENJOY because you already fulfilled your dream, everything else now is an extra.
Where do you see your travel blog in two years?
I love what I do, and I will keep doing it for the next couple of years I don’t know, when you love doing something you don’t think about stopping. In two years I will expect to have improved my content a lot but measuring that in numbers would be about 10 000 subscribers on my YouTube channel. I am saying this but that would be a number of real people, people that like my content and love watching it. That number to me looks like very hard work and improvement has to be done, but I am here for whatever it takes and I’ll make it happen.
